Our Mission

Meet the Owner: Matthew Oghene Onojafe

A Prince Georges County native with a bachelor of science degree in optical engineering from Norfolk State University, Mathew uses his technical background and knowledge to propel Jafe Cycling’s bicycle repair and maintenance services. Mathew has more than eight years of experience in business development and government contracting. With a passion for cycling, his goal is to encourage the community to take control of their personal health and wellness.

How Jafe Cycling Got Its Start

Matthew started Jafe Cycling with a mission to help the African American communities that had been severely and disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by promoting cycling to strengthen their immune systems and to promote overall health and wellness. Jafe Cycling has since grown into a full-service bicycle repair and maintenance shop and also hosts youth and adult cycling programs.

Why Bicycling?

Cycling is a sport that is beneficial to all who participate with no limit on age range or demographic. It can be especially helpful for children and youth who are learning to overcome hardships caused by being unsupervised in underprivileged communities. At Jafe Cycling, we are dedicated to helping lift up our community, both adults and youth, and show them the way to a happier and healthier life through cycling.
